MALI GUIDE
Hi! My name’s Mamadou Tamba Traoré and I’m a Tourist Guide in Mali. I live in Bamako but was born in Mopti in 1971. I have been a Registered Guide since 1990 (Guide National No. 147).
I love my country – and I would love to show you its beauties!
Tourism is becoming increasingly important in Mali – but if you don’t have a good guide you risk seeing only part of the fascinating sights my country has to offer. My many years’ experience as a Tourist Guide will ensure that you have a safe journey whatever your destination should be: I have absolutely reliable contacts for renting a LandRover 4x4 or a car; for travelling on a ‘pinasse’ along the Niger river; for accommodation all over the country – in Hotels, Auberges, Campéments.
I belong to the ‘Poel’ ethnic group, but I am also an expert guide for the Dogon area, one of the most interesting trips inland in Mali. If you have time, we can sail by ‘pinasse’ along the Niger to Timbuktu, the ancient centre of Muslim learning, resting on the edge of the Sahara desert. Then we can rent a 4x4 and travel in the Gao region, to see the desert elephants near Grossi, admire the dunes at Hondo Miyo, and be enchanted by the sunset over the pink rocks called ‘Fatima’s Hand’ south of Hombori.
Djenné, Mopti, Sévaré: all worth a visit for different reasons! And why not move southward, visit Sikasso and the green parkland in the south of Mali?
Perhaps we could then take a short drive into Burkina Faso, and visit Bobo-Dioulasso, with its lovely mosque and colourful market.
In fact, I have a long-standing experience as a Guide also for Burkina Faso, Senegal, Guinea, and The Gambia.
I speak French fluently and English, the Bambara, Poel and Dogon languages.
*** Last but not least, I have specialised as a Guide for the Disabled, thanks to the Training for Guides for the Disabled, which I have received through HANDISPORT, Paris (France).
I look forward to hearing from you and planning the best possible holiday for you according to your needs in my beautiful country!
